Harper to Monitor Social Media Network

Update (March 5, 2011): Just want to point out that this video was posted on youtube yesterday. It was first reported by CTV back in May 2010. Read the full context of the report here.

CTV have reported that Harper government (TM) (formerly Government of Canada) will be monitoring social media to “correct misinformation”.

This and other attempts by Harper to micromanage his government at all levels shows that he is basically paranoid and insecure; the mark of a bully. This somehow gives him the feeling that he is in control of ‘his’ (the Harper Government!?) party and all its functions. Micromanaging is a sign of a poor, ineffective leader. He needs to go! Anytime soon would do.

Interest groups don’t just monitor social media, they actively sway opinion. It’s quite sophisticated, they have programs to automated switching between hundreds of real-seeming identities that check out for any cursory investigation you might attempt to see if they’re legitimate people or fake grassroots “astroturf” PR. Google for “persona management software”.

Urk, I see you are well versed in that concept from your previous very extensive post on it.

I think it might have been worth a cursory mention here just to give an understanding of the tools and sophistication that can be used to “correct misinformation”. The scope of the pandora’s box this opens.

“Correct misinformation?” Yeah, right. Considering the record of this government in blocking access to information requests and in dumping or attacking government watchdogs who dare to criticize the “Harper Government,” I suspect it is more along the lines of attempting to cancel dissent rather than correcting misinformation.

Which brings to mind a now-famous Stephen Harper quote:

“When a government starts trying to cancel dissent or avoid dissent is frankly when it’s rapidly losing its moral authority to govern.” — Stephen Harper, Canadian Press, April 18, 2005

We have posted op-ed letters which were immediately rebutted. This gov. does not want Canadian Citizens to know the truth about the seal slaughter in Canada. Harper wants you to know HIS truth.
In a news article posted yesterday, even China is reported to be shocked by this outrageous attempt to silence the activist.

QUEEN WALDORF FIGHTS BACK! http://queenwaldorf.org is the only Canadian animal abuse Data base- Ask yourself WHY and ask why our animal protection laws are 117 years old? ( All major Canadian Animal Welfare groups loose their
Charity status if they comment on Canada’s fur industry and they risk being audited )
